Wolde Bulto Adugna: Roles, Education, and Professional Achievements

Wolde Bulto Adugna is the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gadaa Bank S.C., one of Ethiopia’s emerging private banks. With over 25 years of experience in the Ethiopian banking sector, Wolde Bulto brings extensive expertise in banking operations, financial intermediation, and strategic leadership.

He assumed the role of CEO in May 2022, after serving as Vice President at Oromia Bank (formerly Oromia International Bank) from February 2016. His tenure in leadership has been marked by a focus on inclusive financial services and strengthening the role of banks in economic development.

Mr. Wolde Bulto holds three academic degrees, all from Addis Ababa University:

• Executive MBA in International Economics, with a thesis titled "The Role of Commercial Banks’ Financial Intermediation on Economic Growth: Evidence from Ethiopia (1991–2020)" (completed July 2021),

• Master of Science in Economics, and

• Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

In addition to his executive duties, he also serves as a board member at Odaa Bus, contributing to broader economic initiatives in the Oromia region.
