Dashen Bank Introduces Ethiopia's First Banking Super App
Addis Ababa, January 14, 2025 — Dashen Bank has
announced the launch of a new digital platform, the Dashen Bank Super App,
which it claims is the first of its kind in Ethiopia’s banking sector. The app
was unveiled during a ceremony at the Sheraton Addis Hotel.
According to the bank, the Super App is designed to
integrate a wide range of banking services into a single platform. The app
reportedly allows users to manage multiple accounts, transfer funds instantly,
and access credit services based on transaction history.
Dashen Bank’s CEO, Asfaw Alemu, stated during the
launch, “This app is part of our effort to enhance customer experience by
providing safer and more efficient digital banking solutions.” He added that
the bank aims to keep up with the evolving needs of its customers through such
innovations.
Features Highlighted by Dashen Bank
The bank highlighted several features of the new platform,
including:
- All-in-One
Banking: The app consolidates personal and business banking into one
interface, enabling users to manage their finances conveniently.
- AI-Driven
Onboarding: An AI-powered feature for self-onboarding aims to enhance
security and improve customer data accuracy through identity verification
and liveness checks.
- Interest-Free
Banking Options: The app includes Sharia-compliant banking services,
catering to users seeking non-interest-based financial products.
- Budget
Management Tools: A budgeting feature helps users track spending and
gain insights into their financial habits.
While the bank positions the Super App as a step forward in Ethiopia’s digital banking landscape, its adoption and user feedback will ultimately determine its success in meeting customer expectations.
